You have access to the most sought after and valuable commodity in the world. It mobilizes people to action; to achieve; to spend. It is used to value companies launching for IPO; it determines if businesses thrive or fail. Those trying to obtain it leverage the lion's share of their assets to access it. Chances are, you are forfeiting it or giving it away for free....
On a personal level, it's what determines Success, Happiness, and overall Well-being.
It's where we find our Creativity; Inspiration.
It's where we Forge Relationships.
What is it?...
"Mom, are we poor?" my daughter casually asked one day, with the same tone she'd use to ask why the sky is blue. I was stunned. I had no idea what to say. I stammered through a version of 'no,' but my knee-jerk reaction was sadness: that I didn't know what about our lives brought her to feel like it could be true. On most days, the prevalent truth is that I don't think of us as poor, but actually, rather fortunate.
I've found myself reading pieces that describe how even the financial upper-strata in this country don't consider themselves to be 'rich.' It angered me at first, but the truth is, wealth and poverty, 'rich' and 'poor,' in many ways, are completely subjective. It's a state of mind. Understand this, and you'll be tangibly richer. How you see yourself has an enormous effect on whether or not your resources will be felt as wealth or if anything you have will feel like it's enough. Let me explain.
